Position Overview The Director of Care is responsible for ensuring a high quality of medical care and a safe environment for all residents, staff, and their families. Leads the nursing department and is directly involved in ensuring quality resident centred care following Manitoba Health and national accreditation standards. Exemplifies good communication, strong clinical abilities, and leadership skills. The Director of Care needs to be professional, compassionate, and flexible. Responsible for planning, leading, mentoring and evaluating the provision of care by working directly with staff, residents, families, and our community. Promotes Meadowood Manor’s mission, values, and strategic plan.

Experience

• Three to five years management experience in health care, preferably in long term care.

• Demonstrated leadership ability with comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based practices and techniques in nursing services.

• Experience in managing a multi-unionized environment.

Education/Licensing

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to plan, manage and implement change.

• Mentorship and coaching skills

• Experience with staff development.

• Background in conflict resolution.

• Organizational skills, ability to manage competing priorities.

• Experience with fiscal, staffing and material resource management.

• Current driver’s license and availability of a vehicle for travel
