Career Description


The Director Designate, Carquest Canada role is intended for the develop of talent in preparation for a Director role on the Carquest Canada team. The Director Designate is responsible and accountable for assigned deliverables within the key corporate functions of merchandising, sales/operations and supply chain. The Director Designate will partner with cross-banner leadership teams on the implementation and execution of assigned elements of the Strategic Business Plan.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following


  • Partner with Sr. Directors, VP’s, and Senior Leadership to gain a deep knowledge of CQ strategies and business practices.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive short/ long term strategic plan for DIY/Professional sales and operating margin growth.
  • Create a culture that values diversity and provide a safe, fair and respectful environment for Team Members and customers.
  • Leads by providing team with direction and resources needed to meet and/or exceed goals and objectives, including sales performance, customer service, controllable expenses, operating income and return on invested capital goals.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership team to develop a customer-focused strategic vision for the organization.
  • Demonstrates behavior that align with the Advance Auto Parts/Carquest Cultural Beliefs and inspires, educates and leads assigned team (as applicable) to do the same.
  • Establishes a sales-focused environment in which leveraging a large quantity of internal and external resources is highly encouraged
  • Supports others’ ability to add value for customers (e.g., share own expertise, build strategic vendor partnerships)
  • Instills a culture of customer first mentality; makes organizational decisions with customers in mind.
  • Identifies the common core causes and issues underlying a variety of problems and critically evaluates the costs, risks, and benefits of alternatives before making decisions
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Establishes relationships with key customers, including national accounts, in partnership with Professional Sales team.


Supervisory Responsibilities


Supervises assigned analysts, managers and AIIC team members as directed by SVP Professional.


Qualifications

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE


Bachelor's degree in business management or related field is required and advanced degree is preferred. Exception to educational requirement may be for a candidate with proven record of performance. Must have knowledge of management best practices and experience is at least two of the following business disciplines: Sales/Operations Management, Merchandising, Supply Chain. Must have excellent strategic planning and organizational skills. Automotive industry knowledge is preferred.


Language Skills


Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents, including financial P&L statements and related documents. Ability to respond effectively to people at all levels, both inside and outside of the company. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to teams, company management, public groups and/or Board of Directors. (Proficiency in French preferred)


Mathematical Skills


Must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts, including creation of budgets and P&L management and analysis. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations including graphing and the interpretation of mathematical modeling.


REASONING ABILITY


Must have the ability and desire to define problems, initiate controlled testing processes, analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to resolve complex issues.

The Director Designate must be able to travel, including regular overnight travel in order to visit within his/her assigned business unit(s). Travel may be via both car and airline. Frequent walking is required.
