Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Shared Services, the remote Precision Agronomist is responsible to deliver remote agronomic support and services to growers in a particular region or territory.


Key Responsibilities
  • Uses GPS and maps to guide soil sampling plans and monitor completion.
  • Uses remote sensing and satellite imagery and proprietary software, interprets data to create quality zone maps specific to customer fields
  • Equipment IDs
  • Historical info such as As-applied data
  • Collaborates with the Sales, Marketing, and Strategic Partnerships teams to help drive sales, by assisting on sales calls to promote VR services, resolving fertility concerns, and making fungicide or seeding recommendation (Rx) as required.
  • Contributes to department projects and initiatives, including the documentation and maintenance of standard operating procedure (SOP) documents for the Digital Agronomist role.
  • Utilizing Farmers Edge Tool Sets (ZonePro, Sample Pro, RxPro and ScoutPro), creates, and/or approves fertilizer, fungicide and seeding recommendations.
  • Understands and participates in the Farmers Edge business plan and strategies to achieve operational and personal successes.
  • Interprets and communicates soil test laboratory results
  • Field plans including legal land description and crop rotations
  • Contacts customers by phone and/or email to collect information based grower contract requirements, including but not limited to:
  • Communicate with growers to support interpretation of yield variability maps, and to identify potential stress or pressure in the field
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Seed and drainage regulations
  • Cropping systems and farming practices in the region
  • A valid Agronomy certification; CCA or 4R preferred
  • Previous experience doing data collection for R&D purposes, growth staging, recognizing disease, weeds, growth, and other environmental pressures.
  • Experience with high tech hardware and software, and the ability to build relationships and provide outstanding customer experience in a remote setting.
  • Strong understanding of agronomy and/or precision agronomy including but not limited to;
  • Location farm equipment.
  • Fertilizer types and blends
  • Understanding of basic meteorological data and how it relates to crop production
  • Post-secondary education in Agriculture, or relevant combination of education and experience
