Detailed Overview


The Dietitian will focus on health promotion and prevention activities across the lifespan with a focus on vulnerable populations applying a health equity lens. Provides nutrition expertise to the team responsible for health care planning and service delivery, practice, and policy, which addresses a specific population or issue within the assigned program. Consults with other health professionals and develops, coordinates, and presents relevant resource material or educational sessions. Collaborates with other program areas, with direction from the Program Lead, to address community, population, and services needs and represents the assigned program and FH on local, provincial, or national groups, as appropriate.


Responsibilities


  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and research by identifying service issues, collecting data, and preparing reports as required.
  • Prepares and provides briefing notes to the program team to assist them in making informed decisions on nutrition related issues.
  • Plans, develops, and implements the integration of nutrition information into services delivered, in collaboration with other public health dietitians and program staff.
  • Assists the members of the program team with planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services for diverse populations across the lifespan, as assigned.
  • Conducts education workshops and conference sessions to support the integration of nutrition information into services delivered.
  • Conducts research and analysis related to nutrition and liaises with academic institutions, where appropriate.
  • Maintains related reports, records, statistical data, in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Acts as a resource to an assigned program area by providing expertise for best practice in the area of nutrition and interpreting provincial and federal food and nutrition guidelines.
  • Represents the program area on internal and external committees and task groups as assigned.
  • Develops or coordinates nutrition resources and information to meet program needs.


Qualifications


Education and Experience


Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an approved educational institution, plus completion of an accredited community or dietetic internship program.


Two (2) years recent related community and/or public health experience as a practicing Dietitian delivering community-based programs, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Current registration with the College of Dietitians of BC and eligible for membership in the Dietitians of Canada.


Valid Class V BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business purposes.

Salary range


The salary range for this position is CAD $39.56 - $49.39 / hour
