The Service Operations function owns the core service functions of Atmail, including the operation, remediation and delivery of SaaS solutions, subscription and professional services. The function ensures successful services by focussing on service reliability, costs, security and customer experience.
The scope of this full-time, ongoing contract DevOps role includes Atmail's own operations and our customer's operations of our platform products and may, in future, include the operations of managed service platforms within customer environments.
Role Purpose:
The DevOps Engineer is focused on the delivery of Atmail services, including Atmail SaaS platforms and customers on-premises deployments, and will ensure the delivery a of consistently stable, reliable, secure and cost-effective cloud platform for Atmail and its customers along with professional technical support.
Key Accountabilities:
- Contribute to timely and professional commercial engagements by delivering technical outcomes, such as the onboarding of new customers, building new hosting platforms or providing technical skills to customer projects in consultation with the Director, Service Operations;
- Enable Atmail customers so they may reliably access their service and fulfill their support requests in accordance with contractual obligations;
- Perform on call roster duties as required, resolving technical situations with the customer and business front of mind;
- As part of the Service Operations team, contribute detailed technical expertise across some or all areas of software development and integration, solutions and services, application and user interface architecture to deliver a secure and stable products for customers;
- Participate in the day-to-day maintenance activities necessary to ensure that Atmail Cloud platforms are reliable and secure, whilst being cost effective and continuously looking for opportunities to gain greater efficiencies and coordinate any changes with the Director, Service Operations and members of the Service Operations team;
- As the 'eyes and ears' of Atmail, flag and report any problems or issues that may be identified, even if outside area of responsibility, to enable a proactive approach to be taken by the business;
- Escalate complex and sensitive matters to senior engineers and/or the Director, Service Operations, as necessary;
- Continuously develop and improve core infrastructure (CI/CD and similar) to enable the controlled rollout of new features, functions and configurations to Clouds, Atmail or Customers;
- Assist in prioritising work requirements across the Service Operations team, identifying opportunities to standardise, automate, scale or eliminate non-value-add and routine work to ensure high quality work is performed which align to customer and Atmail needs;
Experience:
Mandatory
- Demonstrable broad industry knowledge and experience as it relates to “as a Service” architectures and associated trends;
- Demonstrated strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to identify improvements, determine priorities, multi-task and effectively and efficiently meet strict deadlines; and
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a hands-on technical roles (software engineering, DevOps, customer support, or similar);
- A Bachelor (or higher) degree in a technology field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong scripting, programming and/or system administration experience with demonstrable competence in modern web frameworks and/or server-side high performance languages (ReactJS, Go, PHP, Python, C/C++, bash, etc.);
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of an agile team environment with strong communication and collaboration skills;
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in a customer facing role (both internal & external).
- Experience designing and developing solutions within cloud architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure);
- Experience working within Agile, Lean, Prince2 or PMBOK project management organisations;
- Experience developing effective platform monitoring and alerting;
- Demonstrable “cloud-first” mindset aligned with designing and developing large-scale, highly available and cost-efficient systems;
- Certification in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud technologies; and
- Experience installing, configuring and operating email server technologies;
- Knowledge in information security architecture technologies, service frameworks (e.g. ITIL) and IT Security principles;
- Experience working with global teams across different time zones;
- Demonstrable database management and administration capabilities;
- Experience developing for continuous integration, delivery and deployment;
