Your Role and Responsibilities

Come join our team as an IBM Runtimes Open-Source team Developer. You will join the hundreds of developers actively contributing to our public GitHub projects, using industry standard tools like Git, ZenHub, Jenkins, and Slack. Our development lifecycle and activities, from concept to delivery, happen openly in collaboration with community developers and researchers and we support building your own developer identity and influence in the various programming languages and runtimes communities.

The IBM Java Runtimes development team is adept, enthusiastic, curious, and works in the C, C++, and Java programming languages. We work on a variety of processor architectures (x86, POWER, z/Architecture, ARM, RISC-V) and operating systems (Linux, Windows, macOS, AIX, z/OS). Our IBM Java (Semeru) runtime is the foundation of several thousand IBM products running in virtually every geography and industry; our customers include many of the world’s largest corporations.

We are looking for a DevOps IT architect to join or IBM Java (Semeru) runtimes team to drive innovation and architecture for the continuous integration and continuous development for the IBM Java (Semeru) runtimes following agile, methodology and best practices. We want a technical leader who can drive change and efficiency in our DevOps/IT for our future development. You will be joining a team that deploys, maintains, upgrades and supports the servers, tools, and other infrastructure, both physical and cloud-based, that build and test IBM's Java runtimes. You'll work with industry-standard DevOps tooling, including Ansible, Jenkins, and Artifactory and collaborate with peers and internal clients across multiple geographies. You'll work on everything from Macs to mainframes, and with Windows, AIX, multiple flavours of Linux and other operating systems, including multiple virtualization technologies. We support systems both within IBM and outside in the open-source communities in which we're involved and you will contribute to both.

While the team environment is highly collaborative and agile, team members are expected to operate with a level of autonomy and responsibility. Required Technical and Professional Expertise

⁃ Hands-on administrator-level experience with Windows or Linux servers

• Experience with Jenkins / Docker
• Experience with scripting languages like Python, bash, powershell

⁃ Demonstrated technical trouble-shooting skills

• Strong technical leadership and negotiation skills

Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise

• Prior experience in Compilers, Runtimes, Operating Systems would be an asset but not required
• Experience with Open-source development tools and projects

⁃ Basic working knowledge of Ansible

⁃ Basic working knowledge of the AIX operating system

⁃ Experience collaborating across geographies

This role will involve working with technology that is covered by Export Regulations sanctions.
