The Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff Registered Communications Distribution Designer (Enterprise Architect) (ADG-C) for Network Services or Technology Programs team.
Digital Services and Real Property operate in a product-centric environment; as the Enterprise Architect (Communications Distribution Designer), providing advice and guidance on the architecture best practices of cabling and network infrastructure design, management, security for computer networks, internet telephony, optical networks, unified communications, wireless networks and other. This role is vital in researching and evaluating new concepts, approaches and technologies within Technology Programs or Network Services architecture area, providing enterprise-wide recommendations for the enhancements to new buildings and system projects. In addition, this role is a key collaborator working closely with stakeholders during the envisioning, planning and execution stages of various projects providing input on the development of project goals, constraints, and requirements, with a lens from the Communications Distribution Design to ensure projects comply with House of Commons policies and industry standards.

Education:
- Holds a professional Bicsi certification or working towards obtaining Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD).
- A University diploma or degree in Information Technology or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
Experience:
- Experience with the review, interpretation, and implementation of: IM/IT Policy, IM/IT Blueprints, Information Technology Strategy, Information Sharing Agreements, as well as managing and tracking of major corporate IM/IT initiatives;
- Knowledge and skills in such areas as: enterprise design, estimation and project management, financial management; IT procurement; portfolio management; project management; risk assessment; and system development lifecycle management;
- Knowledge of Bici Communications Distribution Designer theories, principles, practices, and methodologies to plan and manage the implementation of the cabling for building renovations and or new systems implementations.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in infrastructure cabling design for new buildings and or renovations to enhance and or replace systems;
- Experience in providing professional advice and technical expertise to senior and executive level stakeholders, vendors, and external business partners and collaborators;
- Experience in gathering business requirements, reviewing, and analysing data, developing, and conceptualizing designs, contributing to RFP, RFI, and SOW;
- Knowledge of principles and methodologies associated with architecture and design in such aspects as: architecture compliance review; business architecture and process analysis; IM/IT strategic roadmap development; IT capacity management; IT disaster recovery; system architecture and design; system quality assurance; business and system requirements analysis, technical documentation; information, data, and security management;
Assets:
- Maintains knowledge of current products and evolving technologies relevant to communications such as Avaya; Cisco; Citrix NetScaler; DHCP; DNS; F5 Load Balancers; Bisci.
