Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture and Technology PMO, the Enterprise & Data Architect will be accountable for the design, development, maintenance and ongoing advancement of Giant Tiger’s enterprise technology architecture and data lifecycle management. The architect will work closely with stakeholders across Giant Tiger to understand business goals, take in the long-range plan, help shape the overall program/project portfolio, and translate all inputs into a vision of technology platforms that integrate into a sustainable and scalable enterprise architecture that will serve the organization into the future. In addition, the architect will be responsible for developing the strategies, solutions and processes to manage enterprise data throughout the data lifecycle.

In order to perform effectively, the architect must shape and strengthen solid business relationships with stakeholders across Giant Tiger and the technology industry at-large to align continuous and measurable technology improvements that propel the business forward while rationalizing systems to help reduce technical debt, complexity and operational costs, all in accordance with our strategy.

Enterprise And Data Architect, Job Highlights

Enterprise Architecture

• Facilitate the development and maintenance of Giant Tiger’s data governance including rules, processes, roles, delegations, privacy and compliance to our organization’s enterprise data usage and management.
• Ensure enterprise-grade databases and data sets are available, maintained and perform to business needs.
• Lead technical analysis to shape and maintain Giant Tiger’s Data Architecture. Define and drive the data architecture framework, standards, and principles (including modeling, metadata, security and reference data).
• Develop and maintain the data modelling methodologies and tools.
• Actively partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical requirements (integrations, transformations, databases & data warehouses).
• Establish and institutionalize architecture governance practices and processes to ensure proper review, due diligence and alignment across technology leadership on architecture recommendations (i.e., architecture review boards, architecture in-take, center of excellence, impact assessments, etc.).
• Data Architecture
• Actively maintain industry knowledge of best practices to establish and institutionalize current/future state architecture standards, frameworks, patterns and methods to guide projects/solutions/applications and drive business value/optimization.
• Guide the design, development and implementation of technology solutions across the entire organization. This entails establishing and applying sound technology architecture standards to guide solution architecture as well as supporting business strategies in a way that aligns to a cohesive technology architecture roadmap.
• Develop, maintain and foster solid relationships and partnerships with technology stakeholders (application development, integrations, infrastructure, security, and operations/support) and business stakeholders across Giant Tiger, to define, evolve and maintain the company’s enterprise reference architecture and application inventory.

Enterprise And Data Architect, Key Qualifications

• Expert problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex opportunities/challenges
• Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in a technical discipline. Master’s degree and/or PMP and/or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) and/or Informatics Cloud Certification and/or Google Cloud Certification would be assets
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence at all levels and lead/collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and business teams in an environment of competing interests and limited resources
• Minimum 10 years experience through a combination of architecture, data design/modelling, project delivery, strategy development and managing/advising large scale, complex project/delivery teams – management consulting experience would be a definite asset
• Experience delivering/facilitating complex technical workshops to technical professionals and pivoting/simplifying workshop content to business professionals
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills complemented by solid business and technical background, and keen interest in business operations, process improvement, and change impact
• Strong experience driving large scale technology programs/transformations through various delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid, DevOps) – preferably in retail industry
