The Desktop Support Specialist is the second tier of support for assisting customers with IT applications, products or services. The main objective of this role is to assist users of all departments with IT Related issues and hardware deployments that are not able to be completed by the service desk. This role will provide support both in person and remotely as required and is responsible to ensure that effective solutions are provided to the users they assist.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.


  • Engages in research and in-depth troubleshooting to resolve technical issues. Consults with specialized technical staff when necessary.
  • Assist with hardware and software deployments as required
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.
  • Quoting and ordering of IT components
  • Verifies that suggested solutions effectively resolve the users' problems through verbal or email follow up.
  • Provides support for all Information Technology products and services. Support may include answering questions, troubleshooting problems, teaching or instructing customers regarding software or hardware functionality, and communicating policy.
  • Works on infrastructure related projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Attendance to work is an essential function of this position
  • Resolves work orders and escalates complex and/or high priority problems to the appropriate support groups for resolution
  • This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
  • Records customer and problem information in PCI's Work Order System. Updates tickets with activities and closes tickets with resolution entered upon completion of the job.
  • Works on Helpdesk related projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • This position may require travel.
