Data Architect (Specialty In Data Migration)

OnX is looking for 2 experienced Data Architects (specialty in data migration) who can successfully deliver design and implement data solution and convert/migrate data across systems in support of the RMS implementation.

*Unfortunately, Sr Data Engineer/Data Analyst/DevOps is not enough qualification for this role. We need an Architect level expertise with proven experience in a leading role[s].

Location: GTA (must be able to work 3-4 days per week in office in downtown Toronto)

Duration: 2 years with potential extension

Client: one of municipal government services

Role's Summary: The Data Architect’s role is to design, develop and implement all work related to the data migration, modelling, data management and optimization of BI data, systems, and analytics for the Records Management System Project – Data Migration and Reporting Stream.

Must Have:

• Must have minimum of 7 years of experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Informix, DB2) and an understanding of non-relational databases
• Must be able to pass a "deep-dive" Security Background Check (usually takes 4-8 weeks) *
• Modelling experience within a large organization within information management, business intelligence, and data analytics
• Familiarity with emerging data technologies and concepts such as Data Fabric, Data Mesh, Data Virtualization, and Semantic Layer
• Designing both on premise and cloud based data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures to enable use cases in analytics and AI/ML
• Minimum of 7 years recent experience in leading data architecture and data design activities (as an Architect or Tech Lead)
• Must have minimum of 7 years of data modeling, advanced knowledge of SQL queries, and experience with data migration activities including the design and implementation of ETL processes
• Undergraduate degree in a related field (Computer Science, Engineering, or Analytics)

Good to Have:

• Proven ability to transfer knowledge both within and between business units
• A certification in Data Modelling is preferred
• Experience working with Public Safety organizations
• Experience in training and coaching end users/ITS, documenting knowledge and lessons learned.

Deliverables/Duties:

• Assists with data-related technical challenges and perform root-cause analysis to answer specific business questions and recommend and implementing ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
• Collaborates in the planning, design, development, and deployment of Change and technology implementation activities where needed.
• Translates business requirements and business operations practices into data collection and management solutions
• Assists with solution architecture, technical design, and implementation of end-to-end data systems that enable well-integrated transactional, business intelligence, and analytical platforms
• Identify and articulate technical and operational requirements for data pipelines and the models they populate; be able to optimize these pipelines for high performance/resiliency workloads
• Recommend the appropriate data stores and build and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models for transactional, BI, operational and analytical platforms
• Supports data architecture initiatives and collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Governance and Business partners to ensure designs follow data management standards and best practices
• Informs, designs and implements datamarts, warehouses, data lakes, data lakehouses, API’s and analytics systems
• Designs robust, reusable and scalable data solutions and pipeline frameworks to automate ingestion, processing and delivery of batch and real-time streaming data
