ABOUT MY CLIENT

My client is among the biggest processors of poultry and red meat in Canada, with a focus on further processing. They cater to both retail and food service markets and offer top-notch products that are known for their great taste. Our operations are spread across Langley, BC and Waterloo, ON, and we have a workforce of over 600 employees nationwide.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

My client is currently seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team at the Waterloo facility. The Cost Accountant will report to the CFO and will have the responsibility of ensuring that precise and timely cost analysis information is maintained. This would involve setting and revising projected costs, maintaining standard rates, and ensuring accurate inventory valuation and cost analysis. The role would also require reporting on variances and exceptions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Collaborate with the Product Development and Operations teams to create cost assessments and bills of materials (BOMs) for new and updated products.

·Conduct a comparison between actual costs and estimates/standards and analyze discrepancies.

·Develop, maintain and regulate production standards, as well as consistently review and maintain overhead and labor application rates.

·Offer support in the month/year end closing procedures and perform analysis of inventory and product costing.

·Aid the Operations team in devising and evaluating cost-saving initiatives.

·Provide regular (weekly, monthly) and ad hoc reporting of important operational data in comparison to targets and previous years.

REQUIREMENTS:

·5+ years of accounting experience is desired

·Experience within cost accounting, analysis and forecasting Is essential for this role

·CPA Designation or working towards this, is expected for the role

·Excellent communication skills with strong excel skills

·experience implementing new software is desired but not essential

COMPENSATION:

·$80,000 - $100,000

·Up to 15% bonus

·3 Weeks’ vacation
