Cost Accountant Jobs

The Opportunity:

Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant to support their multi-location manufacturing operations. As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing business with responsibilities for COS, absorption and variance analysis, inventory valuation, and support. The ideal candidate has experience in costing, inventory, and financial reporting, is highly analytical, and has a strong attention to detail.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Work with production on incomplete production reporting and other production reporting errors
• Create annual labor rate and machine rates for all manufacturing departments and assist in the preparation of the annual budget
• Review variance accounts for reasonability - Scrap, PPV, COS FX, freight in, and identify possible opportunities for improving efficiencies
• Reconcile inventory subledger to GL and report on changes in inventory (quantity/price/FX)
• Run costing of new parts in SAP, perform time studies for validation of routings and quantity consumed for BOM audits, and support preparation of files requiring COM
• Prepare inventory related and COS related Journal entries at month end, including Slow moving provision
• Complete month end close procedures and reporting on COGS and production reports
• Prepare month end functional overhead reporting vs budget and calculate capitalized variances, intercompany elimination entries, etc.
• Complete month-end reconciliations, including in transit inventory and inventory provisions • Support inventory count (cycle count and annual physical count) for inventory valuation, audit support, validation
• Generate labor utilization reports

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or any other relevant field
• Working with Job shop (WBS/Project accounting)
• Microsoft Excel and SAP (R3 ECC or S4 Hana) expertise
• Make to stock and make to order experience
• CGA/CMA/CA/CPA designation (achieved or actively pursuing preferred)
