Cost Accountant - North Bay, ON - $75,000 - $80,000 + package

SUMMARY

Develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning and control. Applies principles of cost accounting and inventory management to conduct studies, which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. All activities relate to manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists organization's controller in the development of the budget, planning, and other corporate financial requirements.
• Makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.
• Compiles cost information for operating budget preparation.
• Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
• Assists Senior Financial Analyst in their duties and responsibilities.
• Analyzes audits of costs and prepares reports for month's end.
• Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly.
• Establishes databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing plans (future) and forecasts.
• Processes accounts payable in relation to the raw material.
• Conducts inventory counts and maintains the perpetual inventory system.
• Develops and installs cost accounting and inventory systems.
• Analyzes data obtained and records results.
• Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
• Makes estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
• Maintains Fix Assets and monitors Capital Projects.
• Monitors costs associated with outside converters and provides updated reports.
• Plans studies and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and expenses.
• Other duties as assigned
• Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiency with Excel
• Business diploma or degree in accounting
• Having Costing experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Minimum of three to five years’ experience
• The entire suite of Microsoft office products
