Job Description

They are looking for a Merchandise Buyer to join them in creating the ultimate destination for modern self-care, with expertly curated beauty & wellness products and experiences powered by the world’s most desirable brands. You will have a unique opportunity to be a part of creating this exciting new retail experience that will introduce distinct and transformative experiences to communities across Canada. This is a hybrid role and pays $95,00 Base Salary + Bonus 15% yearly


DESCRIPTION

Their Buyers are the creative force behind our extraordinary assortment of products and experiences. You will:

  • Collaborate with their lead merchant and buying team to build and implement plans to cultivate a compelling collection of products and services that lead trends and create loyal and engaged customers.
  • Develop merchandising and planning strategies that deliver financial results that maximize revenue, gross margin, inventory turn goals.
  • Work closely with their visual merchandisers to showcase their products in-store and online and partner with their content team to create inspiring lifestyle stories centred around products, services and general well-being.
  • Build strong brand relationships to be the partner of choice, develop mid to long-term strategic plans and secure marketing investments for exclusive brand and product launches.
  • Develop partnerships with their vendors to continually evolve our product selection and availability to meet their customer needs and create value for all stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for delivering the department and brand budgets in line with KPIs, and continuously monitor and review department performance to analyze and respond to sales patterns.


REQUIREMENTS

The nature of this role requires the following skills and capabilities for success:

  • Build great relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendor partners
  • Demonstrate a commercial mindset, using data and insights to leverage opportunities
  • Knowledge of beauty industry, brands and products
  • Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills
  • Can drive the success of a department through creative and commercial thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong awareness of current trends and competitor activity
  • Able to work strategically always and hands-on when needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

The education and experience you bring to this role:

  • Experience building brands
  • Bachelor or Master's Degree preferred in Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, Finance, Business or another relevant discipline
  • Depth of experience negotiating terms and contracts with multiple vendors
  • 5+ years of merchandise buying experience – previous experience buying cosmetics and beauty related products is preferred
