Corporate Strategy Associate Jobs

The Role:
The Strategy Associate leads and supports a variety of strategic initiatives inclusive of playing a pivotal role in developing the annual and long-term strategic plans for each of the Samuel Business Units (BUs). This position is crucial to the business’ ability to establish its short, medium, and long-term plans in a dynamic and capital-intensive industry.
The Corporate Strategy Associate is responsible for the development and oversight of the BU’s corporate strategies in order to support growth objectives and capital allocation decisions while strengthening the business core to develop and/or maintain a competitive advantage in its chosen markets.
The Strategy Associate will work closely with the senior leaders of each BU and at Samuel’s Corporate HQ to formulate a short and long-term strategy. A successful candidate will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, and work with cross-functional teams in the development of business-wide commercial strategies.
Success in this role demands a strong strategic and analytical orientation coupled with exceptional communication and research skills as well as a highly developed collaborative nature.
Day to Day Expectations include:

• Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues
• Monitor the evolution of the Steel and Metals industry, competitive landscape, new technology developments and regulatory environment
• Communicate recommendations to senior management in a clear, concise, and impactful way
• Work with the Corporate Development team to shape and inform our approach to M&A and strategic partnerships to execute the corporate strategy
• Develop rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations. Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for recommendations
• Deliver projects or major project work streams related to Samuel’s corporate strategy or corporate initiatives – from shaping to successful implementation
• Travel Requirement 25-50% of the time
• Work closely with BUs and HQ management teams on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support

Experience, Education & Qualifications:

• International work experience or exposure to working in an international company would be viewed favorably
• Demonstrates versatility to complete ad hoc requests and projects under tight time constraints and deadlines
• Professional experience in a Strategy role - Management Consulting or Corporate Strategy
• Personal presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives
• Strong work ethic, proactively manages multiple high priority projects and works effectively in a team
• Ability to deliver complex cross-enterprise projects with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics, Math is preferrable
• Excellent understanding of Industrials/Manufacturing Sector and experience in delivering large scale projects
• MBA Graduate from a leading university would be beneficial
• Self-starter, results-focused, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible
• Outstanding record of academic achievement with excellent strategy development skills
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, attention to detail and ability to carry out sophisticated financial models
