Position Overview
Calian Composites is looking for a dynamic and passionate Composite Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering you will be an integral member of the team and will be responsible for the composite design and analysis of new and existing products and composites. To be successful you will need to research and consult colleagues to design in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
The Composite Analysis Engineer can work remote, in-person, or Hybrid based out of our office in Saskatoon, SK.
Responsibilities
- You will perform analysis of composite components and multi-component systems
- You will establish analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and use of other analysis tools to be used by the engineering team
- You will specify repair methods of composites
- You will perform finite element analysis, calculations, and testing to confirm performance and establish structural integrity of composite structures
- You will coordinate Fabricators for product testing and process experimentation
- You will design new products, components, and manufacturing equipment
- You will establish and/or maintain effective simulation planning and documentation management within projects
- You will specify and test composite laminates and assembly methods
Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens, NX, NX Nastran is considered an asset
- Thorough understanding of practical finite element analysis theory such as element types, meshing strategies, verification and validation, and industry standard finite element analysis workflows
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally and adhere to travel requirements
- Experience with composite materials, composite mechanics, and failure modes
- Experience with composites manufacturing is considered an asset
- Well-versed in finite element analysis methodologies for linear-static simulations, including but not limited to CAD idealization, meshing, specifying boundary conditions, and post processing results
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant education
- Experience with non-linear simulations is considered an asset
- 5+ years of industry experience in design and/or analysis of composites
- Eligibility to register with APEGS
