Who We Need


Reporting to the Compliance Director, we are looking for a Compliance Specialist to join our team. You will be accountable for the maintenance of high ethical market conduct standards of our distribution channels by conducting desk and on-site reviews of contracted agencies and their advisors according to applicable regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and our Policies and Procedures. In addition, you will provide detailed reports following your review with proposed remediation action plans, when applicable, including performing ongoing monitoring.

What you will do:


  • Manage documentation. You will maintain and update compliance policies and procedures and other related documentation. You will organize documentation for regulatory, internal audit and other reviews and examinations and assist with the arrangements for such examinations, audits and reviews. You will manage the Regulatory Compliance Department’s files and records.
  • Research. You will collect information and analyze applicable legislative and regulatory actions concerning insurance products, ancillary products, field operations and home office administration.
  • Share knowledge. You will educate and inform the business units about compliance requirements, including legislative and business practices. You will ensure communications and bulletins issued by the Regulatory Compliance Department reach the intended audience in a timely manner, including quarterly legislative and regulatory updates for all applicable entities. You will manage the development and delivery of compliance training programs.
  • Collaborate. You will assist business units in the development and implementation of technological tools to improve current processes. You will act as administrator for the annual regulatory compliance management attestation process for all applicable entities, including coordinating with management and the service provider, tracking completion, working with business units to resolve any gaps that have been identified and documenting them accordingly.
  • Report. You will track project plans for the implementation of legislative requirements and regulatory changes and work with the various departments to ensure that implementation plans are being met. You will conduct quarterly regulatory compliance self-assessments for the Regulatory Compliance Department and prepare formal and informal compliance reports and other communications to the business units on a regular and ad hoc basis.

You are meticulous and resourceful and can prioritize expectations and deliverables to maintain high-quality standards while meeting urgent deadlines.
  • The education and experience. You have a university degree and in-depth experience in legislative and corporate compliance management in the insurance industry. You are proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and have the ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have superior communication skills and an appreciation for diverse backgrounds, experiences, and approaches. You can build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all levels. You thrive in a high-performance culture, understanding the reliance others have on your output. French/English bilingualism is considered an asset.
