Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Associate Director of CloudOps, the Manager will be accountable for the management, design and control of technology processes underpinning, and operational integrity of, all EQB cloud environments. They will oversee the management of public cloud and integrations with other systems. They will also be required to plan, coordinate, and implement production changes and support various project teams to setup and maintain cloud environment. They will work closely with security teams to ensure bank’s security practices are adhered on public cloud. They will also closely work with network, devops, cloud platform and architects to deliver projects and program initiatives.
This individual will be responsible for managing a technical team with a primary focus on public cloud. They will drive the team for IaC and immutable infrastructure and provide guidance and training as and when required by junior resources. This individual will partner closely with vendors as well as the internal Developers, Infrastructure, PMO, Risk, and Compliance teams.
Main Activities
  • Monitor industry trends, explore, and develop best practices to ensure a market competitive position.
  • Understands cloud service offerings and standardize service deployment that follows best services and security guidelines.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent to create a high-performing Cloud team
  • Work closely with architects and SME to Design, build and deliver infrastructure required for various project teams.
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate a team of talented Cloud Engineers, coaching them in their career growth while building high quality Code for internal business groups
  • Direct accountability for public cloud services, disaster recovery procedure for infrastructure, cloud tools and automation to support of Cloud Operations.
  • Collaborate across communities of practice, not limited to: Architecture, Development, Infrastructure, Support, Product Management and Project Management Office.
  • Implement best practices for IaC, GitOps and Immutable infrastructure, develop documentation and a body of knowledge, assuring that the team produces high quality work on a tight schedule that meets requirements.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the practice through coaching and mentoring of team members.
  • Support change management process to manage infrastructure deployments, software releases, patching and changes to production configurations
  • Design and implement processes in adherence of audit and compliance.
  • Owns monitoring and alert framework for public clouds and ensures any service disruptions are identified and fixed on priority.
  • Ensure practice and developed products align to requirements for security, audit, and compliance.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
  • Sound understanding of contemporary development and operations practices, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Experience with Azure or other public cloud.
  • 8+ years of total experience, Atleast 4+ years in Cloud Engineering with at least 2-3 years’ in a leadership position.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Azure Devops preferred.
  • Strong passion for building resilient cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Azure Devops.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor teams.
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation and consultation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent.
  • Exposure to Agile Development practices.
  • Familiar with Infrastructure-as-Code, container-based development, GitOps and Immutable infrastructure.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
