Job description

In the role of Climate in Forest and Land use Manager, you lead a team working with investing in forest- and land restoration, re- and afforestation in the world to contribute to climate change mitigation, to secure the best possible contribution from the IKEA investment and for IKEA to meet our strategic target of becoming climate positive and to secure a trustworthy standard for carbon removals and land use.


In this assignment you will:

  • Lead the team to secure, through participation in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol development, a trustworthy standard for carbon removals and land use.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high performing team that will strongly contribute to reach the objectives and goals in Inter IKEA; identify and develop talents and ensure succession planning.
  • Identify business needs in terms of data, resources and systems and recommend how IKEA should address the need for land use development, including identification of management practices that improves carbon stock levels.
  • Be responsible for the Removing and storing carbon program, identifying, and evaluating projects for funding and investing in Carbon Dioxide Removals through Agriculture, Forestry and Other land use.
  • Be responsible to secure evaluation of the potential contribution to climate change mitigation of potential investments and monitoring and follow up of performance of investments.

In your role, you act as an important ambassador of IKEA values and a role-model for fact-based business leadership.


This role is based in Älmhult, Sweden.

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • Capability to identify and lead delivery of actions delivering to Strategy and solid knowledge of forest value chain and how it is operated and organized.
  • Knowledge of how to balance and merge environmental, social, and economic aspects to define sustainable and profitable forest management.
  • Expertise in carbon removal and land use
  • Knowledge of forestry as an asset class, and Forest investments incl due diligence processes

  • Capability to create, develop and anchor business cases.
