Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Summary


Reporting to the Director of Health Services, the Clerk II is responsible for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of inpatient and day/night care records and performs a diversity of Health Information Services (HIS) clerical functions. The incumbent performs duties in accordance with organizational values and HIS objectives, policies and procedures. While maintaining confidentiality in all matters relating to clients, staff and the organization, the incumbent works co-operatively in a matrix structure to support the functions of HIS.


The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.


Qualifications


  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute
  • Good work and attendance record
  • Demonstrates ability to work with a team along with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • One (1) year experience as a clerk in a hospital or Personal Care Home preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of general office practices, including budget set up and tracking
  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential (English/French)
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
  • Medical Terminology preferred
  • Experience working with patients/clients, families, physicians, and general staff
  • Excellent computer skills in Windows and Microsoft Office Programs
  • Completion of a recognized secretarial or business office training program required
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
