Job Description

Child and Youth Care Practitioner/Developmental Service Worker

Kinnect Support Services is a social services partner that provides trained staff support to various organizations in need of relief staff. Our team offers superior support to Agencies, Organizations, and Institutions that work with children and adolescent youth who experience behavioral, social, emotional, physical, and psychiatric difficulties.

Areas of Service:

1. City of Guelph

Work Responsibilities:

  • Duties will include daily routines, recreation, behavioral management, and presenting life skills education.
  • Follow instructions and program plans given by camp leaders.
  • Responsible for engaging those who are enrolled in the day camp program.
  • Complete daily logs, incident reports, medication charts and other legal documents. MUST have a solid command of the English language and the ability to effectively articulate and document is mandatory.
  • Daily supervision of campers
  • Assisting with activities and giving positive feedback to campers to encourage engagement.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures as established by the agency / Ministry.
  • Maintaining routine within the campers

Qualifications:

You must have

  • Up-to-date immunization records.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skill.
  • Flexible and energetic approach to work.
  • A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
  • A degree or diploma in child youth worker or Developmental Service Worker
  • Positive and sensitive attitude towards children and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Must be Vaccinated with 2 Dose
  • Physically able to participate with children indoors and outdoor recreational setting.
  • Working with Autism, Mental Health Behavioral, and Developmentally Delayed clients.
  • Must be fully vaccinated dose 1 and 2 Covid Vaccination and follow all provincial protocols.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • A current Police Reference Check or willing to get a Vulnerable sector Criminal reference check.

  • Knowledgeable of ABA techniques
  • Respects each resident as an individual and is aware of his/her need for self-respect and privacy, and the right to share in decisions about his/her care.

  • Knowledgeable of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills.
  • Positive public relation skills, including the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with campers and families.
  • Deals with others in an effective, compassionate, and supportive manner.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Salary: $18 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8 hour shift
  • On call
  • Day shift
  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift

Experience:

  • Child and Youth Workers: 1 year (preferred)
