We are looking to hire a Civil Engineering Laboratory Technologist to join our Geotechnical and Materials Engineering team at our mobile office in Medicine Hat, AB. Responsibilities:
- Coordinating job specific testing requirements with 3rd party testing firms
- Monitoring and analyze test information to aid in maintaining equipment operating consistency
- Ensuring all lab testing, reporting, and procedures are in accordance with company program requirements as trained
- Assisting in the daily operations of the laboratory and to perform testing and reporting required for quality control of material testing
- Working to achieve results within conformance of test specifications
- Maintaining lab equipment in working order
- Performing standard testing procedures to analyze components and physical properties of materials
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a team player attitude are essential
- Diploma from a technical institute in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, or equivalent work experience
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License would be considered an asset
- Must be physically capable of performing the manual labour duties required including: carrying and lifting heavy materials
- Experience dealing with contractors and municipal design consultants would be beneficial
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
- One to three years materials testing or related construction experience is required
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) is required
- Some related industry experience in quality assurance / control for field and laboratory testing, preferably in the consulting sector would be considered an asset
