Job title: Category Demand Planner (Ice cream)
Location: North York
Position Summary
We are looking for a Category Demand Planner to be based at our North York Office to report into the Demand & Supply Planning Lead. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving a Demand Plan for a portfolio of products and customers. As well as ensuring the alignment of the Demand Plan with internal and external partners through the Monthly Business Planning and Collaborative Planning processes. The successful candidate will identify and manage exceptions. They will also monitor performance in order to continually improve the quality and reliability of the Demand Plan and the Company’s ability to sense and respond to changing circumstances.
A day in the life of...
  • Collect information and assumptions about events, activities in relation to promotions, product launches, customer/distribution changes that form important part of demand plan.
  • Own and conduct Master Business Strategy including cross-functional stakeholders, while providing three-year outlook to the business.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to manage portfolio lifecycle, such as new product launches, packaging changes, phase-in/phase-out, and product discontinuation. Ensure that demand is appropriately forecasted and maintained in all circumstances.
  • Conduct reports supporting monthly gap and forecast reviews and share the findings with the business unit for greater visibility and detailed review of the category.
  • Utilize multiple data inputs to develop forecasts, including SAS statistical forecasting application, Nielsen scan sales, and customer loyalty data (where available) to build and maintain 20-month forecasts at National and Customer level in SAP and or APO. Maintain a robust post-mortem learning log.
  • Drive Nestle Continuous Excellence, contributing to the ongoing development and maintenance of daily and weekly measures, and standard routines catalogue, as well as driving problem solving initiatives in the spirit of continuous improvement
  • Actively follow-up actual shipments and sell-out (POS) to identify exceptional or un-forecasted activities. Drive fast, appropriate actions to minimize the impact of deviations. Communicate actions to stakeholders
  • Requires a combination of deep analytical skills to review sales trends and proactively identify issues, with strong communication skills to be able to effectively escalate and resolve issues to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive effective Monthly Business Planning processes to reach consensus demand plan. This becomes a primary input to the Dynamic Forecast
  • Has sufficient knowledge to be able to generate and maintain statistical forecasts, leveraging data analytics, AI (machine learning) APO and SAS Forecast Studio,
  • Collaborate with Customer Facing Teams & CSD to translate and validate customer promotional plans into Nestle demand plans as part of the Monthly Business Planning Process (MBP) ensuring demand plans are realistic and achievable.
What Will Make You Successful
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to proactively simplify the complex and work within a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to take ownership of your work and think beyond the scope of a given assignment
  • Strong technical and analytical aptitude – SAP, APO, SAS, BW, & proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point, VBA, PowerBI
  • Two or more years of relevant operational experience at market/business level, in at least two of the following areas: Sales, Key Account Management, Category Channel Sales Development, Customer Service, Supply Planning, Marketing, Finance: Business Planning / Dynamic Forecasting, Supply Chain Development
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree (Business, engineering or a related field) or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Skilled Storyteller and strong communication skills required, along with an inquisitive and strategic mindset along with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Team player, with demonstrated ability to work effectively across all functions and levels of the organization: proactively resolving and escalating issues to key stakeholders as required
