Job title: Category Demand and Supply Planner – Coffee/Beverages
Location: North York, ON
Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic a Demand and Supply Category Planner for the Beverages business. This individual will ensure the alignment of Customer Demand Planning with internal and external partners through the Monthly Business Planning and Collaborative Planning processes. Will manage the Supply Network of an assigned area of the business by replenishing each dispatch point to meet customer service objectives whilst maintaining optimal stock cover that also considers distribution costs. In addition, will identify and manage exceptions, and monitor performance to continually improve the quality and reliability of the Demand & Supply Plan and the Company’s ability to sense and respond to changing circumstances.
A day in the life of a Category Demand and Supply Planner
As a Category Demand and Supply Planner you will be working on a combination of deep analytical skills to review sales trends and proactively identify issues, with strong communication skills to be able to effectively escalate and resolve issues to key stakeholders.
You will also:
Demand Planning Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in the MBP process, effectively communicating details and assumptions of the demand plan to key stakeholders. Prepare for, participate in, and facilitate the various MBP meetings.
  • Actively follow-up actual shipments and sell-out (POS) to identify exceptional or un-forecasted activities. Drive fast, appropriate actions to minimize the impact of deviations. Communicate actions to key stakeholders.
  • Key contact for LGO in the coordination of DP Master Data for new product setups, customer and product hierarchy, characteristic combinations, re-alignments, like modelling, selection ids, MG1 Maintenance, and proportional factors
  • Key role in annual Integrated Commercial Planning, working closely with marketing, Finance, and CSD to align and document volume assumptions to develop the annual volume commitment and starting point for the next year’s consensus demand plan.
  • Collaborate with CDT Teams & CSD to translate and validate customer promotional plans into Nestle demand plans as part of the Monthly Business Planning Process (MBP) ensuring demand plans are realistic and achievable.
  • Utilize multiple data inputs to develop forecast, including SAS statistical forecasting application, actuals from Nielsen scan sales, and customer loyalty data (where available) to build and maintain 20-month forecasts in the planning system (UNISON). Maintain a robust post-mortem learning log.
  • Key contact for Marketing, CSD, and Finance for new product launches and discontinuations. Responsibilities on innovation and renovation include evaluating business assumptions (pre and post launch), capturing cannibalization/incrementality assumptions, and calendarizing demand according to distribution assumptions and related pipeline fill
Supply Planning Responsibilities:
  • Determine key issues with volume variance that may impact supply and highlight to Producing Partner or MPS Planner by - challenging existing Logistics and Supply Planning processes and tools - implementing improvements to deliver tangible benefits (e.g.: time savings, increased efficiencies, etc.) - monitoring requirements evolution.
  • Deliver sustained IMS performance and adherence to use of Product Briefs for items within managed category.
  • Challenge IMS Partner/Co-Man on regular basis to manage lot sizes, cycle times and R&P inventory levels, to drive optimum FG inventory level.
  • Analyse and evaluate the supply plan and net dispatch requirements to satisfy customer needs considering the network complexity and the supply constraints.
  • Inventory Management: Balance the need for product availability versus the need to minimize costs of inventory to ensure optimum stocks of the right material at the right time.
  • Establish stock policies for Finished Goods, and where needed agreed with IMS producer or Co-Man
  • Establish production requirements for short and long term and to follow up production and dispatch plans.
  • Analyse exceptions, to take business decisions (based on priorities or after arbitration) and to adjust planning results accordingly.
  • Analyse and effectively communicate relevant information including Supply issues and detailing impacts of proposed actions and related trade-offs. Ensuring actions and Supply Plans are realistic and achievable. In accordance with the Monthly Business Planning process.
  • Consistently achieve sustainable Customer Service Level for customers within the Working Capital and Freshness objectives by ensuring that the weekly planning process is executed on time.

  • Team player, with excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across all functions and levels of the organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have 3-5 years of progressive and successful supply chain experience preferably in demand planning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the CPG industry and commercial environment a definite asset.
  • University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
