This is a hybrid role with the requirement to work in the office 2 days a week.
Your role
Reporting to the Project Coordinator of Capital Project Management Engineering Office, the "CAD Operator" provides CAD support to the Project Managers and Engineers as well as English & French Media Regional clients. CAD Operators create, edit, print, check and translate CADDED drawings as requested using accepted CBC/Radio-Canada standards and principles.
The CAD Operator will also maintain the administrative workflow for CAD Document Management and ensure Engineering CAD procedures and standards are maintained.
Key Tasks

• Familiarize other employees with their tasks, tools and work environment.
• Attends meetings with Engineering staff to develop and assure procedures and practices are efficient and current with the industry.
• Ensures that users are aware of new symbols and standards.
• Fills out the appropriate forms, documents; prepare the necessary correspondence and reports according to the information, in order to ensure the necessary follow-up.
• As needed, takes measurements in order to render accurate technical drawings.
• Performs all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
• Enters and updates CAD attributes in the database management system.
• Contributes ideas and makes recommendations to overcome problems or achieve desired results.
• Ensures that CAD equipment and systems are working properly. Try to solve problems or reports to the manager, if necessary.
• Analyzes and prioritizes the workflow of requests to ensure most urgent needs are met based on the Project Managers and Engineers project status.
• Discusses with Project Managers and Engineers to validate the information in order to create, edit, print, check and translate “cadded” or manual sketched drawings of engineering or architecture of any kind in terms of variety and complexity, and according to standards.
• Liaises with different sectors (ex: Real Estate, Transmission) to provide printed drawings as requested.
• Collaborates with Project Managers and Engineers to recommend and develop symbols and standards for the engineering technical drawings.
• Maintains inventory of supplies in pace with the department needs. Places orders for mounted/laminated prints, print sets or other requests, as required.

We Are Looking For a Candidate With The Following

• Good knowledge and understanding of drafting techniques
• Good knowkledge of Sketchup, Adobe Pro and conversion tools
• Knowkledge of WireCAD software is an asset.
• Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
• Strong judgment and initiative
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of engineering terminology or television broadcasting methods is an asset.
• Graduation from Community college with specialization in relevant courses, or equivalent industry experience
• Two years or more related experience
• Creative problem solving skills are required to generate drawings
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD 2018
