Purpose Of Job


The Business Product Owner leads and contributes to a range of projects that deliver high availability applications and solutions to assist Global Risk Management Retail Credit Risk & Small Business. This role serves as a business product owner of the product that the initiative is acted to deliver between business and technology which includes working closely with all GRM & CIDA teams to have a deep understanding of end-to-end processes and desired capabilities to translate this into comprehensive and future forward technology enabled solutions. The individual will also work closely with Technology to develop technology assets with best practices surrounding the use of modern software development, deployment, and operations principles.


Job Responsibilities


  • Coordinate and work with vendor partners, other developers, architects, business analysts, infrastructure and change management groups to deliver project goals
  • Develop and maintain a business process roadmap to modernize while aligning with technology vision and deployment
  • Acknowledge how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values and its Code of Conduct, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational and compliance risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment
  • Initiate and deliver on-going evaluations for feedback and recommendations to modernize applications
  • Maintain an overall business and technology modernization roadmap including all aspects related to the particular business domain e.g. alignment with other in-flight enterprise initiatives
  • Accountable for effective analysis, design, and delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the business needs
  • Proactively drive initiatives to improve technology solutions that assist highly complex business strategy or regulatory requirements with complex integration needs across multiple technology platforms.
  • Work with diverse set of technologies to implement new systems, to enhance existing implementations, and to ensure sound integration with surrounding components from an end-to-end operational perspective
  • Partner with business teams to acknowledge any capability gaps within systems to identify opportunities and implementation of processes and system improvements and continuously promote a culture of excellence
  • Collaborate with multiple GRM and IT groups and vendors to ensure that the application, integrations, infrastructure, and security architectures are created to meet evolving business requirements and align with the Bank’s Data and Technology roadmaps
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of industry best practices, technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies.


Job Requirements


  • Solid experience in the business domain
  • A proven delivery track record, with capability to make decisions that drive results
  • Working familiarity with project management methodologies
  • Solid delivery experience and understanding of the current and future [what excellent is] business and technology product[s]
  • Must have organizational know-how, strong interpersonal skills, impact and influence in order to obtain commitment from others to facilitate the achievement of the transformation program.
  • Must be able to talk effectively across levels within Scotiabank, as well as to senior executives.
  • Must have expertise in highly complex business and technical processes and their implications across the enterprise.
  • Acknowledge business requirements and drive the analysis and overall design of quality technical solutions through to implementation
  • 10-15 years business industry experience and at least 8 years in leadership positions
