Job Summary
Reporting to the Regional Manager Strategic Human Resources Business Partner, the Human Resources Strategic Business Partner provides consultative expertise regarding human resources strategies and objectives for the organization. The Human Resources Strategic Business Partner ensures alignment of business objectives, work cultures, and human resources programs/ policies to facilitate the organization with achieving its business goals.
This position provides consultation, advice and guidance to Eastern Health leaders', unions and the Human Resource team in collaboration with other human resources professionals regarding strategic workforce planning, change management, employee and labour relations, policy and program development, talent management, salary and benefit administration, organizational design, workplace safety and wellness, and monitoring of key human resource performance metrics.
This position is one of 9 HRBPs assigned to different portfolios aligned with the organizational structure. Although these assignments may change or be modified at any time, the expected assignment for this position is the Support Services portfolio (Regional Environmental Services, Food Service and Laundry Services) which is managed by an external contractor, Compass One Healthcare. The successful candidate will work with the Eastern Health and Compass core team as they continue their 10-year agreement and this role is a key position within the team responsible for monitoring and managing the commercial and contractual aspects of the agreement.
About Vested Outsourcing
On January 1st, 2021, Eastern Health entered into a 10-year agreement with Compass One Healthcare to provide support services for the entire region. The agreement has been developed collaboratively by both parties and is built on a shared vision for the future state of our business partnership. This performance and outcome-based arrangement utilizes a relational contracting method known as VESTED. This new approach ensures that we provide our patients, residents, clients and staff with the highest quality support services throughout the region.
Job Qualifications
Education
Undergraduate Commerce/Business Degree with specialization in human resource management.
Master's degree in the area of Health Administration or Business Administration would be an asset.
Membership/Certification with Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) would be an asset.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience in developing, managing and delivering human resources services in programs to a wide variety of stakeholders in a highly-unionized environment.
Considerable experience in working with complex processes and systems that guide the delivery of various human resources services as well as standards, laws and regulations that govern them.
Experience with people management, change management, team development, coaching and Human Resource planning.
Experience with the use of metrics to measure quality processes and to provide fact based decision making.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Solid understanding of Eastern Health's organizational human resource priorities and its talent acquisition and labour relations practices, processes, Collective Agreements and applicable legislation within a heavily unionized environment
Knowledge of research methodology, strategy development and implementation.
Exceptional business writer in preparing briefing notes and proposals
Highly developed negotiation, time management, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to function in a high pressure, diverse and changing environment and manage tight timelines and meet deadlines.
Proven Leadership Abilities, Excellent Communication, Interpersonal And Teambuilding Skills.
