The Bookkeeper position is part of NPG’s administrative team and keeps our financial records and establishes, maintains and balances our various accounts using QuickBooks Online. You will:


  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual accounting functions
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, WSIB forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual accounting functions
  • Calculate, prepare and follow up client invoices
  • Complete and submit monthly, quarterly and annual remittances such as HST, payroll source deductions, WSIB pension contribution and other government documents
  • Calculate and prepare payment for payroll utilities, rent, tax and other payables
  • Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills
  • Prepare tax returns and related bookkeeping services


The Bookkeeper is expected to contribute their services to maintain our accounting, financial records including:

Accounting

  • Create, update, invoice and close projects in QBO
  • Bank deposits
  • Reconcile and maintain an accurate record of retainers
  • Credit card reconciliation
  • Reconcile QuickBooks Online (QBO) bank account with credits and debits

Payroll

  • Maintain employee files
  • Coordinate benefits deduction for Payroll
  • By-weekly payroll processing
  • Track employee attendance
  • Timesheet review


Core Competencies

  • Interpersonal skills to work as part of a team

  • Ability to effectively synthesize complex financial data
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Expertise in QuickBooks Online
  • Customer service skills
  • Good data entry skills
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Strong financial literacy


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 yrs bookkeeping experience in a small business
  • The ability to perform in a team environment either in the office or when staff members are working from home
