Sidrat Research works with partners to advance the bounds of scientific knowledge by providing innovative research and related services. We engage with our clients to deliver solutions at all stages of the research endeavour, ranging from project conception to infrastructure development to community engagement. Based out of Toronto, Canada, we work with teams across the globe at the leading edge of their fields. We engage the broader research community through developing tools, techniques, and training practices that help scientists get to their next discovery.

What You'll Do

As an Associate Program Scientist, you will work across a variety of projects related to specific science-, research-, and infrastructure-related projects for client-directed and internally led initiatives. On a day-to-day basis:

  • You will explore technologies and techniques across different fields and industries to find creative approaches to scientific challenges
  • You will conduct and lead scientific research projects as a part of internally directed initiatives
  • You will support systems and technological infrastructure used within the organization and the larger community
  • You will work collaboratively with and lead teams to determine, prototype, and deliver solutions based on scientific and technical requirements
  • You will produce and maintain technical, scientific, and project management documentation
  • You will communicate complex, technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders, ranging from external scientists to the broader public

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join new projects as they arise. Further, candidates will be encouraged to learn new skills and competencies as aligned with their enthusiasm and project requirements.

These are full-time positions on a one-year renewable contract with the opportunity to become permanent. The positions are hybrid based out of our Midtown Toronto offices.

What You'll Bring

The right candidates for these positions will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in science and technical communication to a public audience
  • Demonstrated experience with scientific coding using Python/Numpy/Scipy, as well as the Git Version Control System (Minimum 3 year experience)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux computing environments, including command line tools
  • Excitement to explore and learn new skills, tools, and technologies to find creative ways to apply them to scientific problems
  • A doctoral degree in Astronomy, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or other related technical field, or an undergraduate degree and equivalent experience
  • Experience conducting and contributing to scientific research in the Physical Sciences (Minimum 3 year)

While not necessary, well qualified candidates may also bring:

  • Experience with relational database systems (e.g., SQL, Postgres, SQLite)
  • Experience with JavaScript and Web Frameworks (e.g., React, Svelte)
  • Proficiency with Docker/Container systems

All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
