Assistant, Water Quality & Compliance
Public Works – Water & Wastewater
Contract Full-Time; 13 Months
Pay Band: $53,110 to $66,389 per annum
Work Mode: Hybrid*see below for more details about this work mode
Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
The Assistant, Water Quality & Compliance supports the Region of Peel’s technical training and Ministry certification/licensing program for the Water and Wastewater staff to ensure compliance with provincial legislation. This involves the administration of training requirements of the Ontario Regulations 128/04 and 129/04, coordination of in-house and external training courses and the associated record management.
What You Will Do
Support the administration of the Compliance Training and Certification Program on the following:
  • Data and information retrieval, review, and storage.
  • Coordinate and communicate training updates.
  • Manage training program database to effectively track course content, attendance records, relevant experience, course completion.
  • Manage Ministry certification/licensing program and training records to demonstrate legislated compliance during Ministry inspections.
  • Electronic record management.
  • Assist with the development of procedural documentation.
  • Liaise with Water and Wastewater Operations, Compliance and Human Resources staff, as required, to help enhance and customize learning strategies.
  • Maintenance of training hours requirement and monthly schedules.
  • Assist with the preparation and facilitation of in-house training programs.
  • Assist with training program audits to assess the effectiveness of learning tools.
What We Require
  • Driven by continual improvement.
  • Access to own transportation is preferred, with a valid Class “G” licence in good standing.
  • General knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • General knowledge of Human Resource Management Systems (e.g. PeopleSoft)
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to learn and use Learning Management System applications.
  • Strong team player; able to take direction and work independently.
  • Excellent customer service qualities.
  • Effective working independently with ability to collaborate when needed
  • Knowledge of data and information management systems and record management practices.
  • Outstanding administrative, research and organizational skills.
  • Capable of interpreting legislation and industry standards.
  • Strong planning and time management skills with ability to prioritize workload effectively to meet competing demands.
  • Great acuity to detail with ability to analyze for effective solutions.
Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Driveworksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
