About the team you are joining
IATA's Sustainability and Economics division works with airlines, regulators, and civil society to develop and implement policies, standards, and solutions that support the sustainable development of the air transport industry and mitigate its impact on the environment. It also conducts research and analysis of the global air transport industry, including quantitative analysis, reports, and publications.
The Data Development team works on data collection, statistics production, data transformation, and data science-led projects, on topics relevant to Industry Sustainability, Industry Analysis, and Industry Policy. Specific statistical and data topics include traffic (passenger and cargo), environmental impact, and the economic contributions of the airline industry.
What Your Day Would Be Like
You will report to the Head of Data Development, and you will support the production, processing and delivery of air transport data and statistics used in our industry analyses and advocacy activities. Specifically, you will support:
The development and maintenance of ETL (Extraction, Transform, and Load) processes.
The design, application, and maintenance of (statistical) data validation strategies and tools.
The conceptual validation of source data, based on data research.
The design and maintenance of database structures, data management protocols, and the application and promotion of sound data management standards.
Support data science-led projects and activities, in conjunction with the team's Data Scientist and other internal stakeholders.
Ad-hoc data or statistics work, or other relevant research.
We would love to hear from you if
You have a University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline with a strong quantitive analysis component.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of data or statistical programming and software (R and/orPython, SQL).
Applied knowledge of statistical data analysis and visualisation. Previous experience with Business Intelligence tools like Tableau or PowerBI is welcome.
Experience and agility working with modern data infrastructure in the areas of cloud computing, storage, and querying.
The ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
A solid geographical knowledge applicable to the global airline industry.
