Job Description
As an Assistant Controller specializing in Ready Mix, Aggregate, and Asphalt production, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing day-to-day financial operations within the company. Your primary responsibility will be to support the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. You will also provide recommendations for process improvement.

Responsibilities


  • Data systems: day-to-day oversite of the transactions related to the manufacturing activity. Maintain and ensure data integrity of the related information systems.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting process by collecting and analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and providing insights to the management team. Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental budgets.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the finance function. Streamline financial processes, implement best practices, and contribute to system enhancements.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overheads. Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and performance metrics tracking.
  • Training and Development: Become the expert on related software and tools not limited to JD Edwards, HCSS Heavy Job, JWS Apex, and Command Series. Provide training and guidance to finance team members as necessary.
  • Internal Controls: Participate in the development and implementation of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory controls, including monitoring inventory levels, analyzing inventory turnover, and conducting periodic physical inventories.


Qualifications


  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing industry, with knowledge of Ready Mix, Aggregates, and Asphalt processes.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
