THE ROLE

The Arena Operator Greet visitors, establish nature of business and direct them to appropriate area or person. Respond to enquiries. Monitor and maintain the ice rink. Supervise the work of coworkers, as required. Ensure the zamboni and the edger are in proper working condition prior to use. Flood the rink surface using zamboni, as scheduled. Maintain optimal ice conditions by scraping, shoveling, brushing and hosing the ice. Ensure the thickness of the ice is maintained according to established standards. Operate the edger to level out ice along the boards. Ensure access to the facilities and services is by authorized clients only. Open and close the facilities in accordance with security regulations/procedures, as required. Address minor disputes and refer conflicts to the manager/supervisor, as required. Ensure safety and enforce rules concerning conduct and use of equipment. Assign and open dressing rooms. Record cancellations and make adjustments to the allocation of ice, as required. Maintain facility logs. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications Needed

Education, Certifications and Licenses

• Recreation Facilities Association Certified Ice Technician (Ontario), an asset
• Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
• An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience
• Valid Driver’s Licence (Ontario)

Experience

• Experience in ice rink maintenance
• Experience In operating ice rink equipment

Language Requirements

English Essential, Bilingual an asset
