ABOUT US

Located in the picturesque, wooded valley in the Bayview and Post Road area, Crestwood School provides quality education to students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. At Crestwood, we practice the traditional art of teaching and challenging young minds to learn and structure experiences that make learning possible. On the same campus, Crestwood Valley Day Camp provides hundreds of campers and staff every summer with a unique summer camp experience that promotes building self-esteem, personal skills, friendship, social networking, fun-filled activities, and lasting memories.


ABOUT YOU

The Maintenance Worker will be hard-working and committed to the health, safety, and maintenance of our beautiful indoor and outdoor facilities enjoyed by children, families, staff, and community members. They will take care of the Crestwood grounds as if they were their own, in terms of keeping them clean and in safe working order. They are ready to work with a team of administrative leaders who communicate frequently to ensure best practices in operations and are committed to being flexible with hours of work to accommodate the needs of the businesses.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the VP of Operations, School Director, and Camp Directors, the Maintenance Worker’s duties and responsibilities for the school and the camp include, and are not limited to the following:


Daily Responsibilities:

  • Snow clearing
  • Using school/camp-approved products provided by Cintas and Quality Chemicals for cleaning and disinfection
  • Grass maintenance
  • Removing any debris and/or hazardous objects/materials and garbage on the property
  • Maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment
  • Conducting maintenance, chemical, and temperature checks on the pools during camp
  • Adhering to the procedure and application of hand sanitizer and refilling as needed
  • Maintaining daily cleaning and property checklists provided by Crestwood and/or applicable government-regulated ministries
  • Setting up indoor and outdoor spaces for meetings, assemblies, and other events including but not limited to setting up and taking down chairs, tables, and other furniture.
  • Garbage/recycling removal (including disinfecting the garbage and recycling bins)
  • Coordinate the arrival and distribution of deliveries from vendors and suppliers
  • Supervising and managing seasonal maintenance staff during the camp season
  • Cleaning and disinfecting outdoor portable bathrooms during the camp season
  • Cleaning and disinfecting the school, camp facilities, and the campus property (with approved cleaning solutions approved by and listed on the Government of Canada website), including all areas that are touched by students, campers, staff, and visitors.
  • Outdoor grounds cleanup
  • Salting
  • Grounds maintenance, including:


Ongoing Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the chemistry of pools meet mandatory requirements (chlorine, PH levels acceptable for swimming as per Ontario Regulation 565 for public pools).
  • Conducting the pool season maintenance and engaging with the pool maintenance company to ensure that the pools are open, maintained, and logbooks are updated as per the Ministry of Health and Pool operating guidelines.
  • Engaging contractors where required (i.e. HVAC, electrical, painting, plumbing, animal/pest control, etc.).
  • Facilitating and/or participating in the school and camp conversion to prepare for the summer camp season (April to July).
  • Successfully complete applicable pool operating course(s) as required.
  • Facilitating and/or participating in the school and camp conversion to prepare for the school session (July to August).
  • Assembling and installing new equipment and products upon delivery as required.


Communication:

  • Work closely with other facilities maintenance team members to complete job responsibilities independently or as a team when necessary.
  • Work with and be in constant communication with administrative team members:
  • School Director and their administrative team
  • Camp Directors and their administrative team
  • VP of Operations
  • Reporting any health and safety, environmental, or building concerns that need to be addressed immediately or prioritized for a later date for less time-sensitive matters.


There may be additional duties reasonably assigned to you from time to time. You agree that Crestwood School and Crestwood Valley Day Camp can make changes to your duties and responsibilities from time to time, to meet organizational objectives. This can include and is not limited to, completing similar duties and responsibilities at other Crestwood School and partner-organization properties and facilities. In the event of a fundamental change to the permanent location of your work, your position, responsibilities, or duties, you will be given notice of the same in accordance with and limited to the provisions of the Employment Standards Act.

This is a full-time, salaried position (commensurate with experience) with health benefits.
