Department Summary


Information Services & Technology (IST) provides the services related to Information and Technology. Enterprise Applications is a unit within IST which is primarily responsible for the development and support of the applications used across the university to conduct and integrate business processes.


Position Summary


Enterprise Applications is recruiting for an Automation System Analyst within the Process Automation Services (PAS) team. Reporting to the Manager of Process Automation Services, this position will fulfill a key technical role in enabling business areas to improve and optimize the execution of business processes and services. This position will work directly with senior business analysts, business clients and internal Information Services and Technology (IST), to transform business processes using automation technology solutions. The objective of the team is to assist business areas in achieving operational goals and objectives by reducing routine, systematic processes using robotic process automation (RPA) tools. This position will be actively involved throughout the engagement cycle (identify, assess, manage, and measure) to translate opportunities into realized business value.


As a Automation System Analyst, this position will be responsible for development and implementation of process automation solutions using RPA tools in conjunction with a variety of technologies (including chatbot technology) and associated business applications (e.g., Oracle PeopleSoft). This position will be required to adhere with existing technology architecture, infrastructure, processes and policies defined by Information Services and Technology (IST). This position will participate in and consult in the development and planning of RPA architecture, standards and controls, to define, develop and grow knowledge across operational teams to sustain the full lifecycle of technology solutions, including continuous improvement, operational monitoring and end of life exit strategy.


Enterprise Applications is looking for a committed and knowledgeable developer highly motivated with experience participating in project and operational teams tasked with delivering value-driven solutions. This opportunity is focused on the continued expansion of the automation practice area with RPA and chatbot technologies. The position will develop and document solutions working with RPA tools like UIPath. The position will be responsible for adherence to best practice in development to ensure maintainable and easy to understand programming, processes, procedures and outputs. The position will be responsible for performing day-to-day operations, and problem solving of RPA processes as required.


Duties


  • Defines, develops, and performs application testing procedures.
  • Communicates task, issue, and system status to project leads and managers.
  • Writes, debugs or modifies programs using various computer languages. Develops custom code for applications/systems or configures/modifies software systems/products in order to meet specific business requirements.
  • Documents all aspects of the implementation and prepares documentation in accordance with IST standards and practices.
  • Participates in the technical development stages to resolve issues with business requirements and to propose technical solutions.
  • Works with project leads and managers to prioritize issue resolution.
  • Participates in all phases of testing including, but not limited to, system, integration, acceptance, regression, and performance
  • Provides advice to the requesting area on alternative and/or recommended approaches to solutions which meet their specific business requirements.
  • Completes the technical design for components or small projects based on documented requirements and/or program specifications.
  • Completes assigned development tasks within specified time frames.
  • Continuously evaluates changes in emerging technologies that can improve or enhance solution and service delivery.
  • Works with area and IST colleagues to understand business requirements and to define project scope.
  • Acts as technical liaison to internal business analysts and business clients.
  • Contributes to the review of best practices and possible technical solutions.
  • Develops and implements technical solutions to deliver on business requirements.
  • Remains current with relevant development and project methodologies.
  • Works on projects that require expertise in technical environments as well as in University business areas.
  • Participates in the creation of test plans, test scenarios and test scripts.
  • Provides time estimates associated with design and implementation.
  • Answers questions related to using the application/ system.
  • Remains current with frequent updates and changes to implemented technology.
  • Takes ownership of technical issues.
  • Identifies defects during all phases of the project (application design, test, production implementation, and post-implementation phases) in coordination with other technical and business groups.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, undergraduate Math w/specialization in Computational Sciences, or equivalent work experience may be considered


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working with automated solutions containing processes, queues, and environments and developed best practices are nice to have.
  • Comfortable directly interacting with clients and internal teams.
  • Advanced analytical and technology problem solving skills
  • Experience implementing RPA tools such as UIPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism are nice to have.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and client-oriented service.
