Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0 is a data integration project aimed to amalgamate, re-design and implement several disjointed reporting data marts containing court data into an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and a set of dependent data marts and views. This project will replace the existing six stand-alone IBM Cognos BI data marts (JIMS 1.0), Crown File Ownership (CFO), Court Case Management (CCM), Courtroom Utilization, Courtroom Activity, and Case Adjournment) with a well-integrated data warehouse. The existing data marts extract, process, re-structure, and aggregate data required for strategic, operational, and ad-hoc reporting of court data stored in the Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) database. The goal of the project is to evolve availability, governance, and reporting of court data by implementing a more efficient, user-friendly, faster, and cost-effective reporting architecture.

This role will assist in the planning, design, development, and testing of the Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) phases for the data warehousing activities within the Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0 project. Additionally, the role is expected to help make sense of the large amount of legacy data through analysis and insight to ensure new data model correctly reflects business requirements. The success of this part of the project is critical to the overall project success for the Justice Business Intelligence unit and the GOA.
This Data Developer Role Will Specifically Focus On
Working with Senior Data Architects, this role will primarily be as the Data Developer who understands data models and design specifications, understands star schema and data warehouse development life cycle, and is able to translate requirements and design specifications into queries and batch jobs that move data into a structured data warehouse.

• Communicate project status and issues to the program and client management.
• Produce systems design manuals, as needed.
• Produce technical documentation and reference materials.
• Addressing defects in newly developed dimension and fact tables,
• Utilize an agile methodology such as Kanban, Scrum, or SAFe to organize workload and to short iterations with rapid feedback loops.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by the Project Manager.
• Staging the required data,
• Design, build and deploy effective data integration packages utilizing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Developing and testing Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes,
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities when transforming the legacy data.
• Create release packages and ensure data integration solutions are added to the department’s source control system as per ministry standards.
• Developing objects such as views, tables, stored procedures to examine data for business usability,
• Communicating analysis results with data architects, other developers, and business subject matter experts
• Write stored procedures, views and user defined functions using Microsoft SQL Server/T-SQL to extract, transform and/or load legacy data.
• Developing test queries for several Dimensions and Facts,
• Use discretion and make sound decisions while working with a minimal amount of direction while being pro-active in keeping their management informed of project related issues.
• Experience building data warehousing solutions in a collaborative, agile development environment.
• Perform unit and integration testing.
• Providing feedback and lessons learned at project close out.
