The Alignment Coordinator is a single-point assembly plant contact for the plant wheel alignment processes. The role requires thorough understanding of vehicle suspension systems, test equipment, computer systems/software and wheel alignment processes. The role requires the skills relevant to diagnosis of alignment issues and assigning failure/defect ownership. Coordination/participation in problem solving activities (with proper documentation) with the responsible business units (Quality/Manufacturing/Product Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering) is a core function of this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer requirements of and ensure compli.nce to all related tooling/equipment and process plans.
  • Analyze Final Line/Warranty data to assist with problem resolution in wheel alignment domain and related systems.
  • Feedback known root-causes by working with Quality, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, and vehicle systems as required to establish containments to increase plant quality, driving issues to closure.
  • Use quality systems data to identify and establish statistical controls to reduce product variation.
  • Use internal systems to create records for Quality and Engineering issues to drive improvement. Provide documentation to support the issue being created to drive issues to closure.
  • Provide support to General Assembly maintenance team and area skilled trades on alignment and alignment-related equipment.
  • Maintain alignment systems test software, systems and parameters as released by product engineering and manufacturing engineering.
  • Manage in-plant alignment processes to ensure support of all related internal and external quality metrics.
  • Coordinate alignment equipment usage and process training (Best Practices) requirements to Manufacturing/Quality and Core Team.
  • Be a member of the plant Electrical Team - an integrated, technical organization consisting of members from Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality and Product Development organizations focused on problem solving the plant’s top external and internal quality problems.
  • Troubleshoot alignment vehicle failures and trends using Red-X and other statistical methods when possible.
  • Maintain SME-level proficiency in vehicle wheel alignment and processes used to troubleshoot vehicles in the plant environment.
  • Plant floor support for all alignment, and alignment-related equipment.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related) or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of computer systems, software and vehicle systems
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of suspension systems and test equipment
