About the Position:


  • Comply with all Government Labour, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies;
  • Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
  • Uphold and follow the duties related to de/anti-icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and Inland/ IDS (including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination);
  • Testing of aircraft de-icing fluids as required;
  • Plan and carry out work assignments and handle problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training or accepted company practices and procedures;
  • Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture;
  • May be required to maintain glycol processing equipment as per Inland’s maintenance manuals and SOP’s in order to perform any and all maintenance functions as directed by management;
  • Monitor glycol processing equipment units as required to assure optimum production and efficiency;
  • Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and log books; that all maintenance issues have been logged and reported to maintenance and all proper shutdown procedures for the equipment are followed;
  • May be required to perform quality assurance sampling of all production processes at regular intervals as required, by using correct sampling protocol as established by Inland SOP’s;
  • Promptly and accurately complete all associated paperwork as required;
  • Be alert and aware of other apron traffic, and to only begin de-icing when it can be done safely without interfering with aircraft movement. AIRCRAFT ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY;
  • Assign work of Aircraft De-icer’s;
  • To routinely inspect de-icing surfaces while on shift, and promptly collect spent aircraft de-icing fluid (ADF) well before the risk of fluid escape;
  • Ensure that Inland’s policy of superior service and satisfaction and aircraft and personnel safety are met;
  • Professionally communicate with aircraft operators (pilots), spraying operators, GRV operators, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner via two-way radio;
  • Work cooperatively with all team members and external stakeholders involved in the completion of assigned duties
  • Operate equipment within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment safely and efficiently;
  • Perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections utilizing appropriate checklists;
  • Participate in pre-planning for de/anti-icing events by performing checks on equipment and servicing equipment with fuel or glycol;
  • Assist the station management team with the responsibilities of the overall safety and performance of the de-icing operation;


Please Note: This position requires the ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC), and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).


Qualifications:


  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
  • Must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally;
  • Vast experience in the field of aircraft and/or operations;
  • Minimum 18 years of age;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets Company insurance standards;
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively;
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts (8 – 12 hours) including weekends and holidays for the duration of the de-icing season (October 1st to May 31st);
  • Previous supervisory experience considered an asset.
  • Air traffic control license, flight dispatcher certificate, apron control certificate, flight services specialist certificate or commercial pilots license considered an asset.
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and the ability to use Inland’s independent computer program;
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills;


The Pad Coordinator will have a mixture or operational and office duties. Most of the job will be spent sitting in the Icehouse or in a vehicle for extended periods of time during inclement weather conditions. There may be exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration). The noise level in the work environment can be excessive at times. There will be times when the Pad Coordinator will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and/or operational requirements.
