Samsung is working towards a vision of providing world-class AI services on its industry-leading hardware platforms like the Galaxy phones, and home appliances like the smart refrigerators and TVs, smart washers and dryers, etc. Real-time AI services on these connected devices will enable users to interact with devices more naturally via spoken dialog, visual interaction, continuous learning, and big data analysis.

Our researchers and engineers at Samsung Research America (SRA), located around North America and around the globe, are working hard towards making the Samsung’s vision a reality. We are looking for candidates with expertise in AI, large scale data analysis, statistical analysis, deep learning, computer vision, robotics and language understanding to join us. You will work with a team of research scientists and engineers tackling real-world problems involving Samsung’s Artificial Intelligence initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to publish at top-tier conferences in deep learning, computer vision, robotics, and language understanding, data mining, neural networks.

Position Summary:

Samsung Research AI is looking for world class scientists to join its AI Lab. The candidate will have a chance to work with other top researchers and engineers, across the Samsung AI Centers around the world (including centers in Cambridge, Moscow, New York, Mountain View, Korea, Montreal, and Toronto). The candidate will have the opportunity to publish at top-tier conferences and journals. This position is a great fit for researchers who want to be at the cutting edge and at the same time have direct real-world impact. The AI Research Center in Toronto is a key part of Samsung’s global AI Research efforts, that aim to conduct long-term research with potential for direct impact on future Samsung products reaching hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities Include:

• Analyze and leverage research data in product and systems applications in both structured and unstructured environments.
• In theoretical development environments and specific product design, implementation and improvement environments, uses current programming language and technologies to translate algorithms and technical specifications and research into code.
• Leverage the deep research work and findings to develop and program integrated software algorithms to structure.
• Develop and communicate descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights/algorithms.

Experience Requirements:

• Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment and self-motivated.
• Expertise in deep learning (DNN, CNN, RNN, DBN, RNN, LSTM, etc).
• PhD in Computer Science or related discipline is required.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal), motivation for international collaboration
• Ability to implement solutions in at least one of Python, Java, C/C++, etc.
• Passionate about learning.
• Solid foundation in at least two programming languages.
• Experience with HPC and cloud computing; hands-on experience with schedulers is a plus.
• Experience in deep learning libraries such as Caffe, TensorFlow, Torch, etc. with strong hands on experience in at least one of them is required.
• Track record of publishing scientific papers in top quality conferences/journals.
