The House of Commons Human Resources Services is currently looking to staff the Advisor, Safety Performance and Prevention position (ADG-D).
In this role, you will work with internal and external clients and stakeholders, including Members of Parliament and their employees and employees of the House Administration. You will have exposure to working with a variety of clients and work environments. You will provide strategic advice to all levels of management on health and safety matters, including hazard identification and risk assessment, identification of controls and legislative and policy interpretation. You will also be working closely with management and workplace health and safety committees.

Education:
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate (or in the process of obtaining it within the next two years) from a recognized institution in the field of Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent);
- Specialized training or certification in one or more of the following areas: Ergonomics, Accident Investigation, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Auditing, Construction Safety, Risk Management, or other safety-related training.
Experience:
- Experience in developing and delivering safety-related programs, procedures, training and awareness sessions;
- Experience working in a unionized work environment.
- Recent experience in conducting investigations, hazard and risk assessments and developing short and long term recommendations;
- Experience working with a federal jurisdiction employer;
- Recent experience in preparing and providing advice, reports and recommendations to different levels of management and safety committees;
- Experience in managing numerous ongoing projects at the same time, with constant changes in priorities and the need to work simultaneously with imposed deadlines;
- Recent experience in the interpretation and implementation of the applicable federal legislation;
Assets:
- Established safety certification: Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional, Canadian Registered Safety Technician, Certified Health and Safety Consultant.
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with a specialization in the field of occupational health and safety;
