We are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, organized, and motivated individual to assume the position of Administrative Assistant within our Administration Department.


Under the general direction of the Manager of Executive Services and Records Management, the incumbent is responsible for a range of administrative services for senior management and departmental managers, including special assignments related to a range of City projects. This work will include but is not limited to: maintaining filing systems, recording, distributing, and replying to mail, preparing correspondence, setting up for meetings, and updating content on the City's website.


This position requires advanced administrative, computer, and communication skills. The work requires the incumbent to possess the experience, knowledge, and ability to operate numerous computer software programs simultaneously. Tact and diplomacy are essential; as are judgment skills. This position also requires the incumbent to be conversant with and to possess the ability to develop an understanding of relevant municipal subject matters.


These skills are normally acquired through the completion of grade 12 and an administrative program diploma as well as a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field which has included the use of computer software. The incumbent must also possess a current Class 5 Driver's License. Short-listed candidates will be required to complete a skills assessment prior to being selected for an interview.


The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $66,443 - $77,929 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and travel allowances, and a defined benefit pension plan.
