ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST
Our client is the largest general insurer and has its customers across the UK, Ireland, and Canada. They are currently looking for an Intermediate Accounting Specialist to join their team.
Shift: Monday - Friday, 9am- 5pm.
Location: Markham- HYBRID (3 Days In-Office)
6-Month Contract
Job Summary:
The Accounting Specialist performs accounting tasks within the accounts payable and expense function. This position is responsible for the account reconciliation, month end close, and day-to-day AP operations. This position will also be the Subject Matter Expert for Guidewire operations and broker commissions
Accountabilities:
- Monitor personal expense submission and communicate to users on the use of incorrect expense types
- Acting as a backup of corporate credit card programs (Amex, BMO P-card) administrator
- Work closely with IT support teams to review and validate special requests on Guidewire payments.
- Monitor Guidewire claims and broker commission payment processes
- Perform relevant analysis for troubleshooting and come up recommendations for solving problems
- Perform system testing of change requests related to AP subledgers of Oracle Fusion
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of the various aspects of accounting operations and the associated operational and accounting dynamics
- Minimum 3 years payments related accounting experiences
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Transaction and operation knowledge of Accounts Payable and account reconciliation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, being able to effectively communicate with managers and IT teams on business issues and solutions
- CPA or working towards CPA preferred
- Deliver under straight cut-off and regular timelines

- Excellent problem-solving skills with capability of multi-tasking
- Ability to communicate with teams outside of Finance
- Initiative to explore new ideas and the ability to motivate others to accept progress and change
