Job Overview
The Accident Benefits Representative (Level I, Intermediate, and Senior levels) contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of first party small injury claims falling under relevant legislation.
Job Responsibilities
  • Liaise with claimants, doctors and rehabilitation specialists
  • Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence
  • Prepares files for arbitration or litigation
  • Interpret policy wordings, determines policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving
  • Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system
  • Keep apprised of current changes and trends in the accident benefits/insurance industry through legislation, arbitration decisions, case law, etc.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Previous insurance adjusting experience
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
  • Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • College/University degree preferred
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
