Minimum 3 years' underwriting management experience in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

Manage employee development, engagement, performance, scheduling, and issue resolution.

Strong people leadership, skill development, and employee engagement.

In-depth knowledge of underwriting processes, tools, and technologies, including credit risk analysis.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Lead, guide, and support a team of underwriters, emphasizing file support and technical expertise to ensure consistent underwriting and customer-centric approach.

Liaise with underwriters and management to discuss complex underwriting issues to develop and execute upon solution-based approaches

Post-secondary university degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration

Strong analytical thinking with effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience dealing with clients/contractors, brokers, company executives, bankers, and attorneys would be an asset

Ability to manage multiple priorities while adapting to new and changing information

Experience in contract surety, commercial banking, accounting, or construction experience considered an asset

Maintain a high level of industry knowledge and technical skills, working towards higher educations, CAIB, CIP etc.

Proven experience as a manager of people and as a team builder

Minimum 8 years' Commercial Insurance experience

Ability to manage workload effectively, especially during times of high activity and tight timelines

Evaluating new and renewal businesses (small to medium-sized accounts and products) by gathering relevant data and putting together financial models

Recommending financial terms by reviewing and analyzing account information

Considering any special or unique circumstances in reviews, while following guidelines in the Underwriting Manual

Preparing final proposals and recommendations for Underwriting actions and onboarding new accounts

Exceptional analytical, judgement, problem-solving and decision-making skills

Strong knowledge of medicine and risk factors
