Develops entry, midpoint, and exit surveys in partnership with Undergraduate Program Chair which measure the UBC Philosophy student and alumni experiences

Actively researches local and global philosophy-related opportunities and events which may be of interest to undergrad students and alumni

Creates and distributes regular newsletters to undergrad students promoting philosophy events and learning opportunities across the lower mainland

Collaborates with faculty members to plan, coordinate schedule, and implement orientation programming

Coordinates orientation and Imagine day activities, ensuring all activities flow smoothly

Advance the Library's goals of information and digital literacies as core competencies;

Contribute to the Library’s commitment to decolonizing our practices through ongoing engagement initiatives related to local descriptive practice;

Actively engage in initiatives that support the decolonization, accessibility and inclusion of the campus community through Library programs and services;

Act as liaison librarian for assigned subject areas;

Connect and liaise with community partners to share expertise, promote the library or participate in projects.

Excellent time-management skills, multi-tasking, and ability to prioritize effectively.

Experience working in a post-secondary, higher education atmosphere will be considered a valuable asset.

Use an international lens to positively engage students and cultivate memorable student experiences, with a focus on diversity, and inclusion.

In collaboration with the Student Services team, communicate and engage with students regarding important updates across the student experience and journey.

Minimum 1 year of event planning, or relevant experience.

Experience working with international students and/or new immigrants will be considered a valuable asset.

Experience working either professionally or as a student in a post-secondary environment in program development, and program management.

Responsibilities include, with stated approximate percentages of time spent:

Manages the development, implementation and evaluation of FNHL student engagement programs (30%)

Remains current with student engagement best practices to enhance the student experience.

Answering and directing routine inquires and promptly respond to inquiries as required

Answering the phone in accordance with SIIT standards; transfer calls where appropriate and take messages as required

Receiving, sorting, and sending mail, courier packages, and faxes

Purchasing and maintaining adequate supply levels as required such as general office and coffee supplies

First Nations and Inuit secondary and post-secondary students aged 15 to 30 inclusive

Ordinarily resident on reserve or in recognized communities or on community lands

Good knowledge of research related to undergraduate education and the first-year student experience, student engagement and retention, and community outreach programs.

Excellent organizational, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.

Excellent human resource management and financial administration skills.

Excellent knowledge of student development theories and best practices.

Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills.

Excellent administration and event planning skills.

Ability to interact knowledgeably, comfortably, positively, and respectfully with diverse individuals with a broad range of credentials, abilities, and literacy/language levels

Uses knowledge of systems, policies, procedures, and exercises professional judgment to solve unusual or complex problems

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with superior attention to detail and superior level of accuracy
