Senior Project Controls Specialist Jobs

Support Project Managers in managing scope, budget, schedule, and contract requirements

Support Construction Managers in construction cost management including reviewing Contractor progress payment applications and preparation of monthly cost reports

Basic understanding of heavy civil design and construction management processes

Familiar with standard quality management practices

Deltek Vision experience and PMP or AACE Certification is considered an asset

Manage the preparation of monthly invoices for over a dozen projects

Support Project Delivery Teams with identification and management of performance measures, performance trend analysis, interpretations, and communication of performance.

Liaise directly with Business Improvement and Quality Management teams to ensure alignment of performance measures across the organization

Support the review of proposals and request for proposals (RFPs) against operational and project requirements, controls, and alignment

Support Project and Program Managers in execution of Project Control, reporting, communications as required

8+ years relevant work experience with 2+ years in a leadership role

Skills as a self-starter, flexibility, and is able to work under pressure

Previous controls or programming experience coupled with mechanical and electrical knowledge

Highlight concerns with equipment and projects to Project Engineers, Reliability team, and Technical Managers

Strong working knowledge of industrial control systems, process automation, instrumentation, and maintenance processes

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues

Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, AS-i)

Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Controls and Automation role or maintenance/ process group.

10+ years project management/project coordination experience

5+ years process Improvement or product management project experience

Demonstrated experience with vendor management

· Demonstrated proficiency in project management and project controls techniques and principles is required.

Responsible to provide support and interface with Project Accounting and/or Business Unit Finance groups.

· Degree or diploma in engineering, accounting, finance or business, or diploma in a trade is required.

· 5+ years of project controls experience, with preference to mining/industrial projects, is required.

· 3+ years of project controls experience in an Owner’s role is required.

· 3+ years of field experience is required.

Analyzing expenses and cost transactions; ensures that transactions are recorded accurately and assigned to the appropriate projects and departments.

Conducting market research as needed to recommend changes to pricing or business models.

Preparing periodic cost reconciliation reports tracking data such as changing labor and supply costs.

Performs other related duties, as assigned.

5+ years of cost management experience on site in construction

Strong analytical skills in data management and analysis

Work with project controls team to support internal and client cost management expectations

Support project team with change management ensuring changes are estimated and tracked in accordance with the project work breakdown structure

Support project management with quarterly profit/loss forecasting

Strong understanding of cost control workflows including earned value management

Collaborate with the project team, construction team, management, subcontractors and suppliers.

Help with maintenance of the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) program baseline and performance analysis.

5 years of experience in project controls supporting the construction industry coupled with great communication, organization and team skills.

Has familiarity with Earned Value Management.

Manage the collection and organization of project cost data

Manage project forecasting, project baseline and progress schedules, with input from project team.

Strong working knowledge of Earned Value Management techniques and processes

Manage Earned Value Management change processes

Manage reconciliation process to understand cost model

High level written and verbal communication skills

Create contract review reports and evaluate projects and contracts

Support project planning specialist in accordance with process updates

Detailed knowledge of scheduling methods, cost control processes, risk management procedures

Team building, staff management and mentoring skills.

Management of the project controls staff assigned to the projects.

Make recommendations on change notices in compliance with best practice change management techniques.

Demonstrated experience working and/or managing the project controls functions with hands on experience on the following:

Demonstrated experience developing and managing project metrics including but not limited to earned value, CPI, SPI

Experience in business and data analysis, process improvement and project management

Knowledge of data/content management (Ex: relational, metadata controls, etc.)

Project Management / Implementation of data policies

Excellent relationship management behaviors with ability to:

Oversees the returned mail remediation, and provide KPI statistics to management

Release weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to management

Publish resource information to company management in an effort to assist with resource planning decisions.

Assist Project Managers in identifying schedule risks, critical path monitoring, float management and schedule recovery.

Lead the development of fully resourced schedules for all assigned projects/programs (working with the applicable Project Manager and Team Leaders).

Advanced data analysis skills (MS Excel or Access).

Demonstrated ability to plan / schedule / manage mid to large-scale projects.

Experience in the nuclear industry is considered an asset but not required.

Collaborate with project management, teams, and stakeholders to resolve issues

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field is required

7+ years of Project Controls related experience

10+ years of estimating experience in Mining, O&G, or other industries

Specialized knowledge of project control functions

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Assist with developing, implementing and maintaining a cost management reporting data warehouse to produce valuable program controls reports and data.

Experience with Oracle Primavera P6.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

May be required to obtain an OSHA 10 hour safety certification.

Perform project planning and scheduling tasks.

Provides appropriate customer support relationships with Project Managers and Senior Managers (e.g., Finance and Pre-Construction) in Operations, Construction and Engineering.

Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent education and experience

Provides monthly project accruals and forecasts to Finance.

Identifies cost and schedule issues and risks to the Project Manager and suggests action plans.

7-12 years’ active, relevant, and applicable experience

Experience and ability to use the following:

Minimum of ten years construction industry experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work with Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Finance, Law, Regulatory, and others to:

Knowledge of Best Management Practices (BMP).

Plan, schedule, and manage the process for gathering scope and cost for project aggregations at each stage gate from all disciplines.

Manage supporting documentation for stage gate updates and regulatory filings

Minimum of ten years construction industry experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles, including experience with concepts of PMBOK

Generate all required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project Dashboard, project performance report

Administer & support change management for assigned projects, in compliance with contract conditions (subcontractor claims, change requests, dispute resolution, etc.)

Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings

As required, produce custom reports from SAP/P6per request of customer or internal management
