Provides therapeutic recreation interventions and leisure experiences to restore leisure functioning, promoting psychosocial health and recovery.

Demonstrated knowledge of the scope of practice of other health care disciplines.

Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles and recovery-oriented approach.

Liaises between client, community resources, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Completes required reports, records and workload statistics. Maintains files and records in accordance with program standards and procedures.

Performs other related duties as required.

Transports residents to and from rehabilitative treatment area utilizing mechanical aids such as wheelchairs and stretchers.

Reports observations of resident's behaviour and progress to Therapist/Nurse; communicates concerns and/or changes to the resident's condition.

Completes resident care statistics and records program information as per established procedures.

Sets up and organizes equipment for related activities as directed; cleans and maintains equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.

Maintains established inventory of equipment, devices and materials.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Effective time management skills and concern for clients;

Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;

High school or general education diploma (GED);

Recent work experience in direct patient care;

Verbal and written communication skills;

The above requirements may be verified through oral, written or practical tests during the selection process.

Previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.

Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

Excellent interpersonal skills with people in a variety of settings.

Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy patients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.

Current C.P.R. (Family and Friends) is preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to assessment and counselling.

Record management duties related to clinical activities;

Data entry functions for a variety of clinical registries and databases;

Scheduling, booking and communicating appointment information to staff, patients, physicians' offices and/or nursing units;

Obtains medical information required from patients and completes a variety of standard forms

Reception duties - answering telephones, receiving and relaying messages, receiving and directing visitors, distributes incoming and out-going mail;

Provides functional skills training to Residents and families in activities of daily living, mobility

Rehabilitation Assistant Program (which includes both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy components)

Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Experience working with children and youth with various disabilities required

Minimum one (1) year experience as a Rehabilitation Assistant (OTA/PTA) required.

Knowledge of various health conditions and their impact on health, well-being, and quality of life required

Demonstrated competence in electronic communication, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required

Basic knowledge of equipment and adaptive devices required

Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Increasing the functional abilities of workers and provide direction to cases requiring rehabilitation expertise

University studies in a field related to rehabilitation, or health sciences (counselling, occupational therapy, psychology, psycho-education, nursing, etc)

Minimum of 2 years experience in the rehabilitation, insurance or related field

A flexible schedule and a remote work approach within Canada

Conducting interviews with all stakeholders to develop effective action plans and reduce absenteeism costs while helping workers return to work

Objectively and succinctly documenting all activities and communications related to a case, organizing notes, letters and other written documentation
