Service Delivery Skills, Expertise And Experience

These hours are dependent on the operational requirements of the organization

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in community, preferably with program target population

Experience providing outreach with hard to reach population

Post-secondary education in a Social Services field

Applicants with lived or living experience in the sex trade work are encouraged to self-declare on their resume

Experience/knowledge of basic program support (i.e. filing, preapprovals, caseload admission tracking, creating files)

Knowledge of data input/collection, privacy compliance, event organization, goal planning, monitoring, and evaluation of service

Maintain current CPR/First Aid Safety certification

Creating and distributing KF brochures and websites to inform newcomers about KF and how to access the program

Utilizing the KF and partner websites to inform newcomers about the KF program

Help connect and refer newcomer families from other KidsFirst agencies to RODS Settlement services to meet their settlement needs

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with needs assessments, case management and working with traumatized clients or challenging behaviors.

Report any mechanical, plumbing, security or maintenance issues immediately to Settlement management.

Demonstrate computer proficiency and create, maintain and access records in a data management system.

Demonstrate knowledge of eligibility criteria, crisis intervention skills and empathy.

Any leaking faucets, blocked drains, repairs, etc. must be reported to the SFC Managers

Report any equipment/appliance repairs to the SFC Managers

A minimum three years clinical experience that must include crisis/trauma interventions.

A superior demonstrated knowledge of health promotion, specific to mental health and substance abuse.

Excellent interpersonal skills; sound oral and written communication skills, an excellent grasp of customer service.

Strong organizational skills; display a high degree of judgment and analytical decision-making ability.

Proficient computer skills working with MS Word, Outlook and research on internet.

A working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Demonstrated competence to work with challenging behaviour and stressful situations and possess effective conflict and crisis management skills.

Experience with and working knowledge of HIFIS an asset.

Lived experience of homelessness and/or experience working with homeless and/or marginalized individuals is an asset.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to set effective personal boundaries with both clients and co-workers.

Proven ability to problem-solve, multi-task and work both independently and as an effective team member.

Vulnerable Sector and Police Check required.

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

Identifies client's needs for services and makes appropriate referrals, or develops alternate strategies for client support, education and follow-up care.

Working knowledge of harm reduction principles.

Crisis prevention/intervention and conflict resolution/de-escalation skills.

Provides basic health-promotion information to clients such as crisis counselling/prevention/intervention around issues such as violence, loss/grief, harm reduction.

Attends meetings and participates in patient care planning and co-ordination.

Demonstrating Comprehensive knowledge of Immigration Programs and procedures in Canada.

Participates in clinical consultation and education within OOT regarding psychosocial factors affecting client care and engagement.

Participates in inter-professional planning, evaluation and development of protocols to enhance system processes and resources for clients at risk for overdose.

Maintains a variety of documentation and records. Collects and provides requested data to the OOT clinical team as required.

Participates in program evaluation and/or quality improvement by identifying opportunities for change and formulating recommendations to support OOT related initiatives.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Engage residents on how to sort their recyclables and organic materials.

Be able to provide their own transportation to work sites in the City of Calgary.

Ability to walk for multiple hours and work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
