Overview Nursing Unit Assistants (NUAs) are healthcare professionals who provide support to nurses and other healthcare staff in a variety of settings. They are responsible for a variety of tasks, including patient care, administrative duties, and other duties as assigned. Detailed Job Description Nursing Unit Assistants are responsible for providing support to nurses and other healthcare staff in a variety of settings. They may be responsible for a variety of tasks, including patient care, administrative duties, and other duties as assigned. This may include providing assistance with patient care, such as taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing emotional support. They may also be responsible for administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, filing paperwork, and ordering supplies. Job Skills Required Nursing Unit Assistants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They must be organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks. They must also have a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures. Job Qualifications Nursing Unit Assistants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. They must also have a valid certification from a recognized nursing assistant program. Job Knowledge Nursing Unit Assistants must have a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures. They must also be familiar with a variety of medical equipment and be able to use it safely and effectively.
