Position: Receptionist/Nursing Unit Clerk - Part Time (30 hours biweekly)

Supports Staffing clerk duties for scheduling/replacement sick calls

Formal training from a Medical Office Assistant program from an accredited facility is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Outlook is a must

Minimum of 3 years nursing experience

Teaching experience at the post-secondary level preferred.

Excellent English communication skills essential

Equivalent establishes a general comparison between two official education systems

Bachelor’s or equivalent* degree in Nursing

Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be considered

Transcribes physicians orders by copying information, completing required forms and/or entering information into the computer and distributing as required.

Orients new staff and students to unit by demonstrating procedures, answering questions and explaining unit organization and layout.

Performs clerical duties such as typing, filing and photocopying.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to deal effectively with others.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Post-secondary education in dietary management and the successful completion of a recognized Food Services Program.

Minimum 2 years dietary management experience in a long-term care setting.

Knowledge of basic payroll principles, post-secondary education related to payroll administration or related experience would be considered as an asset

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have exceptional time management skills

Please note***:2 days Nursing Unit Clerk duties and 3 days Food Services Manager duties

Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M.) or a Registered Dietician required

Participate in facility meetings as assigned. Attends Inservice education programs.

Administrative skills, typing and filing. Computer skills required.

Excellent organization skills, multi-tasking ability, and self-motivation

Prepare and post nursing staff schedules. Replace staff due to absences, etc.

Maintain files/records such as current and/or discharged resident files, Inservice attendance records, etc. Processed orders or requisitions, book resident appointments, etc.

Provides unit clerk coverage in PACU as required

Verifies patient information and informs patients as to pre-operative testing and instruction.

Contacts appropriate area such as doctor's office, Laboratory, Pre-admission Clinic, O.R. Booking to confirm appointments.

Compiles and tabulates statistical data as requested.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
